Consulting work is less of an employment opportunity and more of a partnership. The employer is often looking for someone who has existing expertise for the job and will be able to either lead or guide the team to the most positive results in the shortest amount of time.

Most consulting jobs are looking for a lead with expertise and will most likely be available for a short amount of time. Once the site, project or application is complete, it is most likely that the employer will have their existing team take over the project. Usually, the consultant will also need to set up a knowledge transfer as well as leave some sort of comprehensive documentation.
